About Me

My exposure to design started early and has continued to be a passion as I advance further into my career. I first pursued a degree in Petroleum Engineering when I started college, while just designing as a hobby. My work was seen throughout the university and requested from various groups and clubs on campus. As a novice, I received many forms of payment from money to food, or just a simple “good job” and experience. When I finished my sophomore year, I decided to turn my hobby into a career and turned all my time and energy into becoming a better designer. I was a highly active member of RHA (Residential Housing Association), as their marketing coordinator, I designed all promotional material for the association as well as collaborated with other event programs on campus. I worked at the recreation center on campus as a graphic designer and made promotional material for intramural/club sports while also running a marketing seminar for those programs on how to market their games and teams. I held a short internship for the University of Wyoming as a designer in the athletics department making sports media-related content. After some medical strife forced me to take a few years off, I found myself at a new school with the same desire to finish out my Bachelor’s. Thus far I have worked for and alongside other professionals within the design field and even had an internship with a digital marketing firm during the 2021 summer. Currently, I am residing in Spearfish, SD, completing my degree, BFA in graphic design, and continuing my freelance work in the advertising world. My career goal is to work within the music industry through brand creation.

My theory as a graphic designer is to make the simple look complex and give words representation. For example, I use implied lines in a lot of my logo designs because this gives the design more flexibility by containing multiple representations. Color theory, attention to detail, and experience in the Adobe programs are my main strengths. Aaron Draplin is a huge inspiration to me as a designer because he creates the same minimalistic works and believes in similar philosophies of designing. My main focus recently as a designer is brand identity, both in the creation and awareness stages through marketing. Over the last year, I create video and motion graphics to create brand continuity, thus expanding my experience as a multimedia content creator alongside my graphic design title. I approach video and motion with the same theory and give simplistic flexibility and complexity.
